The attack is a simple DDoS attack using a botnet infrastructure — that is, virus infected computers (hosts) are being directed en masse to “flood” websites. From USA Today, ‘Microsoft Corp. has taken the rare step of warning about a serious computer security vulnerability it hasn’t fixed yet.’ Those running Windows XP and Server 2003 are vulnerable – those running Windows Vista or Server 2008 are not.
