It’s 95 °F outside. How hot is your server room?

A timely issue with this week’s weather — how hot is your server room? Is it kept cooler than the rest of the building? Does it have a backup AC? Do you have any monitoring to alert you to environment issues before they damage your expensive infrastructure?
Most ODMs recommend server rooms be kept below 80 °F maximum (70 °F recommended). Humidity should vary from 40% to 60% — too little humidity produces electrostatic, too much humidity can damage circuitry.
Devices to monitor these conditions – and others – are relatively cheap. AVTECH is an industry leader, WeatherGoose is an affordable alternative. If you don’t have one, invest today.
